Macfrut 2014 Oscars Awards and a surprising statement

the innovation oscars have been awarded on the last exhibition day at macfrut. this ceremony was the highlight of the international fruit and vegetable exhibition, which was held from september 24 to 26 at the fiera cesena premises. the awards comprised four categories defined by a professional jury and went to novelties developed for the fruit and vegetable supply chain. another oscar was assigned based on the visitors’ votes.

and here’s the list: vog consortium for marlene apples was the winner in the packaging category. it is a multi-variety christmas package. the award went to turatti with its strawberry capper frazer model for the machineries and sorting-packaging technologies category, while the company gaiago was voted the best in the services and logistics category with its “soleil’ meilleur”. the winner in the fruit and vegetables and seeds category is san lidano with “orti laziali”. finally, the visitors who attended the 3-day macfrut edition voted for ortoromi with its “insal’arte” as their special winner.

in 2014, macfrut hosted more visitors and exhibitors, compared to previous years, and is now working on the new project that is being developed for macfrut international 2015. president of cesena fiera mr. domenico scarpellini’s, who announced that this edition (the 31st since macfrut was first launched) will be the last one under his management, had made one of the most surprising announcements at this year’s edition: “this is going to be my last macfrut edition. working at macfrut has been a deeply rewarding experience, both at the professional and at the personal level. i wish to thank all my colleagues of the board of directors, as well as all employees. one of our goals has always been to make macfrut as efficient and well-functioning as possible: it was a joint enterprise, to which we all contributed. i want to express all my wishes to my expected successor”.
