Israeli Firms Present at Agri Expo in Kenya

The agricultural exhibition held in Nairobi featured a number of Israeli companies

The annual agricultural exhibition, held in Nairobi from September 29th to October 2nd, focused this year on “Technological Improvements in Agriculture for Food Security”.  The Israeli embassy in cooperation with the economics department, the Export Institute and the Ministry for the Economy organized and ran the Israeli stand where Israeli companies and organizations presented their latest agricultural developments.

Many companies working in this and associated industries took advantage of the agricultural show to hold a B2B* seminar in a major city hotel.  After the short opening ceremony addressed by Israel’s ambassador, the representatives of the Export Institute and Kenya’s Chamber of Commerce, individual Israeli companies met with their potential local partners from the private sector in addition to the relevant government entities in the various regions.

The week’s highlights:

• Visit by the President of Kenya to the Israeli stand where he expressed his interest in the latest innovations and in Israel’s role in the Galana project.
•   The Israeli stand was awarded first prize in the category for the stands by the participating countries.
• The ambassador held a special session for about 20 government officials and 2 governors from five different regions in Kenya. This meeting was also attended by representatives of the region where the MASHAV* Project started recently.
• The B2B meetings with the local companies were coordinated in advance to gain the maximum effect from the seminar in terms of time management and also to ensure the closest possible matching of Kenyan and Israeli entities.
•  While the Israeli companies were highly satisfied with the integration of B2B meetings in the event, they did express their dissatisfaction with the public response during visits to their stands and felt that their presence there was less effective.
A wide range of Israeli companies in the agricultural and water industries participated.
