Israeli and South Korean Agriculture Ministers Meet

yair shamir, israel’s minister of agriculture met this with dr. lee dong-phil, his counterpart in south korea. the goal of the meeting was to strengthen the already friendly ties between the two nations and to promote cooperation in trade, agricultural research and business.

minister shamir was quoted as saying: “innovation, initiative and technology are the characteristic traits of both countries, and provide a main theme in our relationship with south korea, especially in the current “creative economy” and policy of innovation being promoted by the current president.  i’m sure that together we can contribute to the success of the agricultural sector in both nations.”

one of the topics discussed in the meeting was the challenge of the aging of the workforce in agriculture, which is a global problem in the agricultural sector.  minister shamir presented a program aimed at encouraging the younger generation to enter the agricultural sector.
