Haifa Group – Leading the Way in Fertilizers

as a privately owned company with an annual turnover of over $700 million, and over 50 years of experience in the crop fertilizer arena, haifa group has a lot to be proud of. we met haifa’s vp marketing & sales mr. natan feldman at the group’s impressive booth at agritech, where one of the displays included jars with different materials inside, symbolizing the haifa group’s technology, history and values.

“while the world’s population is growing, water and land availability is on a constant decline,” says feldman, stating the challenges that were on everyone’s mind at this year’s agritech event. “technological innovations are the key to overcoming these problems, and our area is innovation in the specialty fertilizer arena.”

the haifa group’s products include nutrients only, which are dissolvable in water and extremely concentrated, so they are able to be implemented on crops with zero loss. in addition, the fertilizers can be applied through the irrigation system, or sprayed, minimizing manpower hours. the company’s control release fertilizers (crf) are based on a patented polymer, and release fertilizers at a set time according to the soil temperature.

this and the company’s other solutions are based on vast experience with the needs of farmers. “this is one of the haifa group’s three main values. we call it ‘farmer’s mind’ and basically it means understanding what farmers need. we bring solutions that are tailored exactly to them,” explains feldman. the haifa group’s values include “pioneering”, as evidenced by their activity since 1966 and industry leading position, and “sharing knowledge.”

the haifa group’s “sharing knowledge” value lead it to build an impressive visitor’s center in israel. the aharonshon center is inspired by aaaron aaronsohn (1876-1919) one of israel’s most celebrated early zionists, who is also considered the founder of israel’s modern agriculture industry. he discovered the only wild wheat in the world. in 1910 he established an agricultural research station in atlit, israel. this station is now being restored to greatness by the haifa group, and will serve as a visitor center showcasing israel’s impressive agriculture industry and accomplishments.
