Winter potatoes will grow in the Negev area for the Italian market
The demand for Daifla variety of potatoes has grown
the french-based germicopa company has sent negev farmers seeds of the daifla variety of potatoes to grow during the winter when conditions in italy are not favorable, so as to avoid an interruption in the supply of fresh potatoes.
in the past, europe has had to settle for produce frozen during the summer months or minimal imports. with the improvement of the standard of living in russia and eastern europe, demand has grown.
the first season’s export target is 450 tons, with plans to increase that number, based on the popularity of the variety which is for high yields and is right for puree, gniocchi, filling burekas, knishes and baking.
